Northern Pass Capital is led by Francisco, an entrepreneur, operator and investor with over a decade of experience across private equity, investment banking, fintech, and consumer and retail.
From a young age, he spent summers working in his family’s metal warehouse: managing inventory, packing orders, and learning not just about business, but about responsibility, community, and grit. That early exposure sparked a lifelong interest in building and growing companies. At fifteen, he got his first taste of entrepreneurship by launching a small cheese-and-meat distribution business. Years later, aiming to build the first specialty coffee chain in Mexico City, he founded Café Tero just months before the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the timing was difficult, the experience reaffirmed his passion for business and provided a hard-earned lession in resilience, adaptability, and the satisfaction that comes from leading a business through adversity.
Professionally, Francisco began his career at Bank of America as an investment banking analyst, advising clients on M&A and capital markets transactions. He then joined Advent International, a global private equity firm, where he evaluated over 50 investment opportunities, led due diligence efforts, supported portfolio company operations, and originated several proprietary deals. Most recently, he was part of the global Strategy & Finance team at Revolut, where he helped shape capital allocation strategy, secure a Mexican banking license, and support the launch of credit and treasury products in North America.
Francisco holds a BCom in Finance from McGill University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
My name is Francisco, but everybody calls me Pancho. I was born in Ciudad Juárez, a gritty desert town on the border with El Paso, Texas.
I’m the fifth of six siblings and grew up surrounded by the friendly chaos, family meals and activities that characterize most big families.
My family moved around often, yet we never lost our rhythm or our appreciation for tradition and values. Every Easter, I joined my father, uncles and cousins in our little ranch. A place where I learned to sit still, to enjoy nature, and to enjoy small things in life. Every year, we played baseball, made quince paste, and enjoyed our time together chatting by a large bonfire.
As of May 2025, I’m engaged to Julia, my college sweetheart and unofficial partner in everything I do. We try to share each other’s hobbies and spend much of our free time together.
Like most Mexicans, I grew up playing football, and while I no longer play regularly, it is hard for me to refuse a friendly match. These days, I spend most of my free time brewing coffee, reading a good book, riding my bike upstate, or playing chess.
I believe in doing small things with excellence, in showing up for the people around me, and in building with care, for the long run.
